Do I Need To Find An Architect?

We have architects that we regularly work with, who we know and trust. The benefit of using our architect is this allows us to ensure plans are kept to a budget. Common problems that people have when they get plans drawn up by an architect before contacting a builder is that the plans are over budget and unrealistic, this results in wasting your time and money. This is not always the case, however something to be mindful of.

Have you got an architect in mind? We will happily work with them to come up with the right plan for you, while keeping within your budget.
Already have plans drawn up from an architect? Fantastic! We are very experienced in building from existing plans, we will get in touch with your architect and begin the building process from there.

When Do I Get The Building Company Involved?

This is up to you. We would advise you to contact us as soon as possible, the more specific details about your home we know, the more accurate the pricing can be. We have great systems in place to price your build, such as specialised software that allows us to be accurate in our pricing.

Throughout your build labour and material costs are tracked in detail, the benefit of this is that this software allows us to keep your new build or renovation on budget.

There can be some unexpected costs, for example pulling up carpet to find Rimu floorboards badly damaged that need replacing, but don’t worry, we will find a solution and prepare a separate quote for you. We won’t go ahead with anything until you have signed off on it.

Aren’t All Building Companies The Same?

No. Like anything there are some good ones and some not so good ones. Different building companies have different skills and specialities. For example we specialise in architectural builds and home renovations. Building companies also have different values, credentials and guarantees, we are Master Builders and have 100% service guarantees. Check these out when comparing building companies and find a building company that specialises in what you’re looking for.

What’s Your Involvement Throughout The Build?

We fully project manage your build or renovation for you, we pride ourselves in open communication with our clients throughout the build.

We guarantee online access to your project 27/7. One of the biggest frustration we hear from clients about building companies is the lack of communication. We use an online system to improve communication and ensure you are always kept up to date with the progress of your project. Through this online system, you are able to view the job programme, selection schedules, budget variations and also view the latest photo logs.

What Is A Building Consent? Do I Need One? Who Does This You Or Me?

Building a new home- Yes

Renovating- This depends on the size of the job, small renovations will not need building consent, but large renovations will need a building consent.

A building consent is needed before the build starts. You are legally required to have a consent before carrying out any building. Your plans will need to go through the local council to be checked. Don’t worry we will take care of this for you.
